LESI Innovation Trends Committee "The EU Data Act - Licensing of IoT Data"

The Internet of Things (IoT) revolution is a trend topic. IoT devices and related services generate huge volumes of data. These are of high interest in particular for feeding AI systems. As a consequence, they support companies' growth as well as open new ecosystems and use cases.

The EU Data Act is expected to be adopted in November 2023 and to come into force by the end of this year. It aims at boosting data economy by unlocking industrial data, optimizing its accessibility and use, and fostering a competitive and reliable European cloud market. Following the market location principle, the EU Data Act, as in the GDPR, will also apply to non-European companies if they are active in the European Union.

In this webinar, the Data Economy Working Group of the Innovation Trends Committee will provide an overview of the EU Data Act and the practical consequences of the data access rights, including the necessity to enter into a number of licensing agreements.
