The LESI European Committee will participate in the Nanofutures Conference (www.nanofutures.eu) that is designed to bring industry, research, networks and NGOs together in the field of European nanotechnology. The initiative comes from several research organisations in Europe involved in nanotechnology. Funding is supplied by the EU Commission (DG Research and Enterprise and Industry – note that the new division of responsibilities in the Commission may have changed this). Our goal is to make LES better known in the industry as a volunteer organisation providing additional educational and networking opportunities within and without the nanotechnology community. A detailed action plan for what LESI wishes to achieve will be finalised. However, the main external activities at this stage would be: (i) attendance at Nanofutures Conference in Spain; (ii) poster about licensing in nanotechnology (Joint authorship by Rob Harrison / Dario Santander / Dimitri Stoffels / Jose Miguel Lissen ); and (iii) letter of introduction (and follow-up telephone call) with Nanofutures Board. Rob Harrison is leading the project.
